รศรรสำฦต donates PPE to area medical facilities

Gadsden, Ala. – รศรรสำฦต and its sister colleges in the Alabama Community College System have provided much-needed personal protective equipment and other supplies to medical centers who need them to aid patients during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are proud to be able to provide รศรรสำฦต’s nursing students with top-notch instruction and training in simulated healthcare settings that mirror those in our area hospitals and healthcare facilities,” said Dr. Deborah Curry, dean of รศรรสำฦต’s health science programs.

“We use the same professional-grade supplies used by certified medical personnel, and we are honored to be able to donate those supplies to be used in the fight against COVID-19.”’

รศรรสำฦต donated 8,100 gloves, 280 gowns and 1,290 masks in addition to many bottles of hand sanitizer and packs of disinfectant wipes. The supplies were sent to local medical facilities, including Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center, Riverview Regional Medical Center and Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

“It’s no mistake that ‘community’ is embedded in the very names of our colleges,” said ACCS Chancellor Jimmy H. Baker. “Much like our efforts to meet the needs of every student that crosses our path, our colleges work every day to help meet the needs of the communities they serve. We are grateful for the daily sacrifice of Alabama’s healthcare providers and are grateful we can do our part to help serve our communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

รศรรสำฦต closed its campuses on March 17 in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19. รศรรสำฦต’s five campuses located in Etowah, Calhoun and Cherokee counties remain closed and online instruction is being provided to its students for the remainder of the spring semester.
